Apparently Justin Bieber’s nomination for a BET Best New Artist Award has got everyone surprised.
Talkshow host Jimmy Kimmel even braved the streets of South Central Los Angeles – home to notorious gangs Crips and Bloods – to find out what the homeboys thought of this news.
The BET thinks Bieber’s a boundary crosser, using music to defy race and skin colour exactly like how hip-hop’s been doing it all these years.
Not me – I know deep down Bieber is black.
What can be more gangster than cruising the streets of Atlanta in a Range Rover, a birthday gift from no other than Usher himself? With platinum awards for bling and even a tattoo, there’s simply no doubting his street credibility.
Bieber. Gangsta. Playa.
Give him time to work on his hair. And skin. After all he’s still only 16.
Besides he’s already on a good start getting his swag on.
Forget Eminem. Bieber is a hip-hopper.
But don’t take my word for it – take P. Diddy’s.
